

John Austin Clark, Artistic Director
Louisville, Kentucky native John Austin Clark serves as co-founding Artistic Director for Bourbon Baroque: Louisville’s Period Instrument Ensemble. He received his collegiate training at Oberlin Conservatory of Music (B.M.) in music education and at McGill University (M.M.) in harpsichord performance. His past instructors of harpsichord have included Lisa Goode Crawford, Hank Knox, and Luc Beauséjour. In addition to his administrative responsibilities with Bourbon Baroque, Mr. Clark operates a private piano studio, directs musical theatre, and performs regularly throughout the surrounding region including appearances with Catacoustic Consort of Cincinnati, Ohio. He is a member of Early Music America, the Center for Nonprofit Excellence, the Kentucky Arts Council Partnership, and the Arts and Cultural Attractions Council of Louisville, Kentucky.

Nicolas Fortin, Artistic Director
A native of Alma, Québec, violinist Nicolas Fortin serves as co-founding Artistic Director of Bourbon Baroque: Louisville’s Period Instrument Ensemble. Mr. Fortin was introduced to the Historical Performance practice while under the great tutelage of Chantal Rémillard eventually completing his Masters in Music at McGill University. Since 2003, Nicolas has collaborated with Susie Napper, famed cellist and gambist, with the Festival Montréal Baroque, which takes place each June in Old Montreal and features the best international Early Music performers over four days. He has collaborated with respected musicians and ensembles such as Wieland Kuijken, Hervé Niquet, Daniel Cuiller and the Indianapolis Baroque Orchestra. Nicolas can also be heard on ATMA Classique label. Mr. Fortin teaches French at Indiana University Southeast and the University of Louisville in addition to maintaining an active violin studio. He is a member of Early Music America, the Center for Nonprofit Excellence, the Kentucky Arts Council Partnership, and the Arts and Cultural Attractions Council of Louisville, Kentucky.
