Caroline Knight-Drury, Soprano
An astute concert artist, Caroline Knight Drury was hailed by Courier-Journal as having a voice “light but firm, perfect in placement and pitch, every word absolutely clear and focused.” This past season, Drury performed as a soloist with the Choral Arts Society in Copland’s In the Beginning and Bach’s B Minor Mass as well as with the Concert Chorale of Nashville in Händel’s Messiah. Most recently she performed the role of the "Mother" in Menotti's Amahl and the Night Visitors and was well received. She has been featured as a soloist in Haydn’s Creation, Charpantier’s Te Deum, Beethoven’s Chorale Fantasia, Frederick Speck’s Night Songs, and Einhorn’s Voices of Light. Drury made her professional debut as the Shepherd in Puccini’s Tosca with the Kentucky Opera and has performed a number of roles including the Princess in the world premiere of Seymour Barab’s Everyone Has To Be Free, Papagena in The Magic Flute, Polly Peachum in The Beggar’s Opera, and Nora in Riders to the Sea.
Drury has worked with exceptional coaches and instructors such as Mignon Dunn, Cristina Stanescu, Gaït Sirguey, and Kenneth Merrill, and has studied under the instruction of Christina Bouras, Cynthia Hoffmann, and Edith Davis Tidwell. Drury holds a master of music degree from the Manhattan School of Music and a bachelor of music degree from the University of Louisville.
